Bonefishing? Bonefishing!
Spring is around the corner and with it comes thoughts of warmer locals and saltwater flats. Here are a few new items to help feed the fever!

Also just in are two new fishing gloves from the folks at Buff. The Water Gloves (shown below left – $24.95) are their interpretation on the classic lightweight sun glove. These gloves feature UPF 50+ breathable stretch fabric with a grippy palm. The Angler Glove (shown below right – $38.95) is a lightweight UPF 50+ breathable glove as well, but differs in that it features a synthetic leather palm for increased grip.

Tomorrow, Saturday January 21st, we will be holding the first tying class of the season; Tying for Beginners Part 1: Intro to Tools, Techniques and Terminology with Idylwilde Signature Tier Troy Basso. We will cover everything from selection and use of tools, thread selection, and the basic tying skills you will need to get started in this rewarding endeavor. The class cost is $50.00 and will be limited to 6 students. The class will begin at 9:30 am and will end about 3:30 pm. All tools and materials are provided. Musky Fly Fishing World Championship
Musky Fly Fishing World Championship to be Held March 24th in McMinnville, Tennessee.
The inaugural Musky Fly Fishing World Championship Tournament, presented by Towee Boats, will be held on Saturday, March 24th. This one day catch and release tournament will feature fishing on the Caney Fork and Collins Rivers near McMinnville, Tennessee with proceeds going to Musky conservation efforts. While this is a competitive event, organizers point out that the focus will be on fishing, food and fellowship among a group of great anglers.
Participating anglers will enjoy a BBQ reception on Friday night and a Cajun style awards dinner at the Foglight Foodhouse on Saturday night along with an event T shirt and great door prizes. The entry fee is $100 per angler and the number of entrants may be capped. Bash on Broadway
So I went downtown for the Bash on Broadway New Years Eve to check out fly-fisherman and fan of the shop Nick Hoffman and his new band. Nick plays fiddle for Kenny Chesney and has started a new band of his own, The Farm and they were second on the bill at the Bash. The Farm is a very talented, up-beat trio and I know they are going to do well. Check them out at www.thefarmmusic.com.
After four great sets of music the magic hour was upon us and the “music note” was dropping. I shot a little video with my iPhone and decided to share it with you here. I have been to the Bash on Broadway for three years now and it keeps getting bigger and better every year. I know all the cliches’ and complaints, “amateur night”, too crowded, ect. but let me recommend before it gets way too big you check it out at least once.
