Upcoming Classes, Clinics and Schools - Spring 2012

May

Tying Classes:

Caney Fork Essentials                                                                      Date: 5/19                          Cost: $40.00

Our Caney Fork tying class isn’t about how to tie purple soft hackles and variations on a wooly bugger.  This class is a serious look at the river month by month, January to December.  What the fish eat in March is quite different from what they eat in April.  Jim began guiding the Caney Fork River over twenty years ago, and he has collected insect samples every year since.  This class will unlock the secrets of the Caney Fork, and fill your boxes with effective patterns to start catching the bigger hold over fish, which seem to elude most Caney Fork anglers.

Flies for Largemouth, Pike and Musky                                   Date: 5/26                        Cost: $50.00

Idylwilde signature tier Troy Basso will be teaching tying and fishing techniques for warm water patterns. The class will cover the entire water column from surface, subsurface, and bottom crawling patterns for largemouth, pike, and musky. He will be covering how to articulate your patterns to achieve better action in the water.

Clinics:

Caney Fork Entomology – On Stream                                       Date: 5/20                       Cost: $85.00

This class looks at the river from top to bottom and side to side.  We cover the length of the river to discover the aquatic life of the Caney. This is one of the most eye opening classes we teach, and will take you as an angler to the next level.

How to Fish the Caney Fork – On Stream                              Date: 5/27                        Cost: $125.00

This class offers a key to help unlock some of the secrets of the Caney Fork. We will examine the river itself, from the aquatic life to the substrate to the micro currents and determine what is the optimal presentation for the situation. If you can only take one class, this is the one to take!

June

Tying Classes:

Tying for Carp, Gar and Other Trash Fish                            Date: 6/23                       Cost: $50.00

Some of the best fishing in our area is provided by what some uneducated anglers consider trash fish.  We have been pioneers in developing fly fishing for alternative species. Idylwilde signature tier Troy Basso will teach some of our top producers for all of them.  If you plan on fishing our annual “Carp Masters Tournament” this class will give you a big head start.
